Maumelle
firefighters were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at
about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday (April 5) morning. While enroute, police officers
arriving on scene of at least two persons trapped. Upon arrival, firefighters
found an overturned Central Arkansas Transit Express bus with the three occupants
trapped inside.

Upon
the report of persons trapped, Maumelle volunteers were requested to respond,
which brought two additional firefighters to the scene. MEMS responded to
the incident with two ambulances and a field supervisor.

hydraulic cutters and a reciprocating saw to remove patients from the bus.

Walking
on the slick windows of the bus's right wall and navigating around bus seats,
MEMS personnel and Maumelle firefighter carefully packaged each patient before
removing them from the bus. All three occupants were removed in approximately
30 minutes.

The
occupant of the passenger car was out of the vehicle upon the fire department's
arrival and did not seek medical attention.
